The National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC) is strengthening its commitment to transparency, accountability and good governance through its participation in the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Integrity Committee Combined Training taking place at Lusaka Family Legacy Resort.
The training, coordinated by the ACC in collaboration with the National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council, the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA), Infratel, Zambia Credits and Guarantee Scheme (ZCGS), and the Lusaka South Multi Facility Economic Zone (LSMFEZ, brings together representatives from various public institutions to strengthen their capacity to identify, prevent and address corruption in the workplace.
Corruption undermines public trust, weakens institutions and compromises the effective delivery of public services. Since the ACC introduced the Integrity Committee initiative in 2006, a total of 291 Integrity Committees (ICs) have been established across the country to promote ethical conduct and strengthen institutional accountability.

Addressing participants, NAC Director General, Dr Kebby C. Musokotwane, emphasised the important role Integrity Committees play in building public confidence and promoting organisational accountability. He noted that the committees provide institutions with an opportunity to proactively address corruption, strengthen internal controls and improve service delivery.

ACC Director General, Mrs Daphne P. S. Chabu, noted that the anti-corruption agenda has been mainstreamed across government institutions and anchored in the National Policy on Anti-Corruption. She urged senior management to support Integrity Committees in fulfilling their mandate, while reaffirming the ACC’s commitment to providing technical assistance.
A key area of focus during the training was identifying warning signs of corruption within organisations, including poor record keeping, abuse of discretion and weaknesses in internal accountability systems. Participants were encouraged to recognise these risks and strengthen measures that promote transparency and responsible management of institutional resources.
For NAC, promoting integrity is essential to ensuring responsible management of resources and strengthening the coordination of HIV, STI and TB services.
Through its Integrity Committee, NAC remains committed to safeguarding institutional resources, promoting ethical conduct and strengthening accountability to support an effective national HIV, STI and TB response
