World AIDS Day 2025: Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response
Message from the Director General, National AIDS Council
Zambia joins the rest of the global community to commemorate the 2025 World AIDS Day, under the theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response.” This year’s theme challenges us to remain steadfast in our commitment to ending AIDS, despite the disruptions and funding constraints that continue to affect the national response.
We take this opportunity to acknowledge the resilience and dedication of our communities, health workers, cooperating partners, and all stakeholders who continue to protect the gains we have made in the HIV multisectoral response. Together, we have demonstrated that progress is possible when we unite with purpose and determination.
World AIDS Day reminds us of how far we have come, the lives saved, and the lives still affected. It is also a time to renew our collective resolve to accelerate prevention, treatment, care, and support services, ensuring that no one is left behind.
As a nation, let us choose Transformation over Retreat, and continue working together towards ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.
