High Impact Interventions
Zambia has prioritized implementation of High Impact Interventions focusing on reaching key populations as part of its strategy to reduce new infections and improve life expectancy of Persons Living with HIV. The country has further expanded the list of key populations as a deliberate attempt to ensure that populations with historical and disproportionate lack of service access are identified and considered for programming. The following are the six basic programme areas of focus for the period 2014 to 2016:
1. Treatment;
2. HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC);
3. Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission (eMTCT);
4. Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC);
5. Condom Programming; and,
6. Social and Behaviour Change.
