A full team of the National AIDS Council has welcomed the appointment of Dr Reuben Kamoto Mbewe into his position as Director General with NAC Chairperson Dr George Tembo reiterating that the appointee was the best candidate given his vast experience in the health sector.
Dr Tembo informed members of the Council that the recruitment process was above board and that the composition of the interviewing panel was drawn from a wide spectrum of representation to rule out any possible bias.
The interviewing panel included representation from the Council, Institute of Directors, Network of Zambian People Living with HIV (NZP+) and the Ministry of Health through Permanent Secretary in charge of Technical Services Dr Jabbin Mulwanda.
“Dr Mbewe comes to NAC with a wealth of experience from the health sector. We would like to draw his skills to make NAC visible since he was for a long time spokesperson for the Ministry of Health,” said Dr Tembo.
He advised Dr Mbewe to feel free to consult any member of the Council on matters related with his duties.
And Dr Mbewe sized the opportunity to thank the Council for entrusting him with the responsibility of providing NAC with leadership.
Dr Mbewe is an Obstetrician, Gynecologist and Public Health Specialist.
