The National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC) with support from UNICEF publishes a Newspaper supplement every month called Let’s Talk, dedicated to providing a platform for adolescents to share their life experiences in reproductive health, sexuality and HIV and AIDS related subjects either directly or through third party accounts.

The National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC) has appointed its Director of Programmes Mr Fortune Chibamba as Director General on an interim basis. NAC Chairperson Dr George Tembo disclosed the development this morning, 25th August 2017, in Lusaka when he met both head office based and provincial secretariat staff.

President Lungu chats with Grace Chansa, the adolescent who moved a vote of thanks to his address

Republican President His Excellency Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu has launched the National HIV Testing, Counselling and Treatment (HTCT) Day making it possible for persons infected with HIV to be put on treatment immediately they know their HIV positive status. The HTCT Day launched on August 15 substitutes the National Voluntary HIV Counselling and Testing (VCT) Day which used to be commemorated on June 30.

The National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC) has gone into partnership with AIDS Health Care Foundation (AHF) to promote increased media coverage and improve quality in reporting on and around HIV and AIDS. The Media awards were launched by the two institutions at Hotel Intercontinental in Lusaka on Friday 21 April 2017.

The National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC) has today 20th April, 2017, hosted a workshop of radio producers of Test Your Health programmes which promote adolescent HIV Testing Services (HTS) under the financial support of UNICEF.

NAC Director General Dr Reuben Kamoto Mbewe reminded participants drawn from five provinces where these programmes are already running and representatives of radio stations which are yet to be contracted, that they had an onerous task of reducing the burden of HIV in their respective catchment areas.

The National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC)’s Sub Committee on Publicity and Documentation has unanimously elected Ms Rachael Kalaba as its Chairperson replacing Mr Kenneth Maduma who has since taken up a diplomatic posting in Egypt. The election took place on March 15, 2017.

Ms Kalaba, who represents the youth constituency on the Council, also chairs the Finance and Administration Sub Committee.

A full team of the National AIDS Council has welcomed the appointment of Dr Reuben Kamoto Mbewe into his position as Director General with NAC Chairperson Dr George Tembo reiterating that the appointee was the best candidate given his vast experience in the health sector.

Dr Tembo informed members of the Council that the recruitment process was above board and that the composition of the interviewing panel was drawn from a wide spectrum of representation to rule out any possible bias.
